Los angeles was a huge culture shock for me, coming from Cincinnati Ohio where there was pretty much just black people and white people. And, I didn’t know any white folks at all, except for the ones I saw on Gilligan’s Island, The Brady Bunch, and Different Strokes. Lol

Moving to Southern California changed my whole perception of life. All of a sudden I was thrust into the mix with every nationality on the planet.

I became really good friends with a Chinese dude whose family basically adopted me and became my god parents. I learned to speak Chinese and Vietnamese because I was at their house like everyday for three or four years.

This began to shaped my imagination.

Wow!!! How amazing!!! I know yeah the same thing happened with me when I came here. lmbo! I was used to dating black men and I came here and…CULTURE SHOCK!!! lol…You say it changed your perception of life? What perception did it give you about these different cultures? Being with a Chinese family, how did that differ than being with an African American family?

I learned that regardless of our skin color or the language we speak, people are just people. And, people are pretty much the same where ever you go.

We all want the same basic things. At the end of the day, we all have the same need for love, respect, and a sense of purpose. And, we all share the same weaknesses. People are people.

Christian Fiction is the story of Angell Epps, an aspiring novelist searching for the courage and inspiration to follow her calling. As the daughter of a prominent church pastor, Angell is born into a family that is steeped in religious tradition and expectation.

Angell’s faith is unshakable, or so she thinks, until a series of horrifying revelations suddenly cause Angell to question her belief in everything she once accepted as the truth.

Angell is also confronted with the horrifying discovery that her best friend is being mentally and physically abused by a so called “man” who claims to love her, but whose actions clearly demonstrate otherwise. With her heart broken and her life turned inside out, Angell struggles for meaning and understanding.

Now that everything and everyone she cares about has been ripped away, Angell seriously questions the true purpose of her life… Was she nothing more than a pawn in a very cruel hoax? Was her entire life a lie?

Will Angell find the strength to survive?

NICE!! This sounds very relatable to peoples challenges today, that whole struggle between our own beliefs and when bad things transpire in our lifetime we all begin to question our own beliefs! I think it is important to show especially younger people that every obstacle or challenge that they are going through, another individual has had that same struggle if not that one an even worse struggle. I think it is important that we understand that through those struggles it is what creates us into the individuals we become, and prepares us for the major blessings that God has in store for us. I know throughout my own life I have had a series of tragic events that has prepared me for the blessings that God is bringing in my life even today, so I can’t wait until this play comes out it sounds like an awesome story!

I have written 9 books that part of 3 series. THE CHANCE SERIES, CINCINNATI’S FINEST, and CHRISTIAN FICTION….

I love writing about the human frailty that we all are prone to. I writing about the human condition . fear, loneliness, insecurity, desire for things that are just out of reach . we all want to be happy, but most us will never achieve it. We are all desperate for something, fo

What advice would you give to any aspiring Authors? Are there any websites that make it easier to create a book and self publish their books? Or is it better to find a publisher? Also is there any software out there that make the process of writing books easier?

  • Kole Black Africanamericanebooks
    4:41pm

    Kole Black Africanamericanebooks

Amazon Kindle is the most popular self publishing platform, but there are a ton of them out there.

Self publishing is tough but the rewards are worth it. You can also shop your story around to publishers as well , but that can get complex and frustrating.

My advice would be to write and write from the heart. Write about people and things that you can relate to. Write it and write it well.

And, bare in mind that when you put your work out there, there is a critic around every corner. And , not everybody is going to be your fan.

Take positive acalades with a grain of salt, right along with the negative comments .

You can build a great career and make a great living . but just don’t expect to get rich quick. Concentrate on writing good stories and making solid connections with readers. Readers, and not just your friends and relatives, because in order to build a real following with a real audience, you need to be prepared to pay your dues. smile emoticon
